Newton's Third Law
Updated: Jul 16, 2021
Have you ever heard the saying, 'As above, so below'? This ancient Hermetic text alludes to the idea that all things are a reflection of something else. Even Newton's third law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. To put it simply, everything is related. No exceptions. We are living in a constant state of cause and affect, push and pull, give and take. This is what keeps the Universe in balance. As I stated in a previous post, all beginnings arise from an ending, all light blooms from darkness, and ultimately all things we see in our physical world began as an abstract thought. Therefor the repeating cycles that you find yourself in are often the result of repetitive thoughts or actions that keep leading you back to the same place. Yes, we all have experiences that we wish to learn from but there is a big difference between being reflective and being obsessive. You can create so much mental conflict by replaying past events and focusing too hard on how to make the "right decision" next time. It's like an old 80's time traveling movie where they try to prevent something in history from happening and find out later that the event was actually a direct result of them trying to prevent it. That's why it is important to simply be present in your body here and now. Too much mental energy spent on replaying the past will recreate a similar future in the physical because honestly, it is what you are expecting.
Your advice: Reflect on the past choices that did not benefit you but do not obsess over preventing them from repeating.
